It was really a good experience. The church still keep everything as original and everything was well service we took the interior picture and then frlm outdoor as well. This is a really beautiful church. The location is at Kota Lama, a heritage area in Semarang. It has a unique architect with round beautiful roof, maybe thats why it was called Blenduk means something round and puff I am sorry if wrong. This church still opens for sunday services under GPIB Protestan Denomination and its name now is Immanuel Church, although people still call this church Gereja Blenduk. Outer appearance is so beautiful in white while the round roof is red brick. Inside also so beautiful in the retro desain including the big orgel upstair. The sad news is that this historical church really need a renovation soon because of brittleness. It is Javanese word but the original name is Immanuel Church and was built by the Dutch people in the mid of 18th Century. This building is very iconic and you may go inside . As such, there’s not much for a tourist to see. The gentleman inside let my wife and I look around, and I took a few pictures. It is a Protestant church, apparently from the Dutch Reformed tradition. It has a magnificent pipe organ, which I hope to hear some day. I have heard that it is the oldest Christian church in Indonesia. It stands out more as a piece of architecture than a place of worship, and I’m guessing that 90% of the people who visit do so only to take pictures outside. The iconic red roof has been put at arrival hall of the airport too. The church is only for services in certain time and most of time it is closed. Jakarta - Menyambut Natal 2019, Gereja Blenduk menjadi salah satu destinasi wisata dan tujuan ibadah yang utama di Kota Semarang. Gereja ini bukan hanya penting bagi umat Kristiani di Semarang. Namun gedung itu juga lanskap Kota Lama Semarang, yang sarat dengan sejarah. Gereja Kristen Protestan tersebut memiliki keindahan arsitektur yang masih asli sejak abad ke-18. Gereja yang bernama asli GBIP Immanuel itu memiliki magnet yang kuat bagi wisatawan, lantaran berada dalam kawasan 'Little Netherland' yang kini semakin GPIB Immanuel, Sutiyo mengatakan, Natal membawa umat Kristiani berlibur mengunjungi tempat bersejarah di Kota Lama, terutama menengok keindahan isi Gereja Blenduk. Sebutan Blenduk berasal dari kubah gereja yang 'mblenduk', dalam bahasa Jawa, yang memiliki makna menggelembung besar."Banyak warga Nasrani dari luar kota yang beribadah Natal di Greja Blenduk, karena penasaran seperti apa isinya. Dari tahun-ketahun kami selalu menyediakan tenda dan kursi tambahan untuk para jamaat gereja saat perayaan Natal, karena sudah pasti membeludak," ujar Sutiyo."Bahkan warga selain Nasrani juga mengunjungi gereja karena sejarahnya. Keasrian Taman Srigunting di sebelahnya membuat wisatawan semakin mudah mengambil gambar berlatar gereja tanpa merasakan panas terik matahari."Pernah ada wisatawan luar daerah mau numpang salat karena dikira masjid. Kubahnya ini mirip masjid. Jadi begitu masuk, ternyata banyak kursi berjajar," ucap kursi yang berjajar untuk jamaat gereja berbeda dengan gereja pada umumnya. Jika di gereja kebanyakan kursi jamaat berupa kayu panjang dengan meja untuk sandaran tangan, di Gereja Blenduk tertata rapi kursi kayu jati dengan sandaran punggung dan dudukan dari rotan."Rotan tersebut pernah diganti sekali lantaran termakan usia. Sementara, kayu penopangnya masih asli sejak abad 18," ujar ornamen lampunya pun masih orisinil, hanya diganti dari lilin menjadi bohlam lampu di ruang utama gereja. Lampu yang didesain bisa diturunkan menggunakan katrol berantai tersebut, kini menjadi permanen. Menariknya, kaca patri dengan dominan bentuk oktagonal tersebut masih bertahan di setiap sudut gereja, tanpa termakan perubahan iklim dari sejak pertama kali interior Gereja Blenduk, seni kaca patri bergaya gotik dengan lengkung Romawi dari abad ke-18 tak termakan usia meski diterpa iklim yang terus berubah.
